California Benefit Cards Working in Many CA Casinos

According to Los Angeles Times, the special benefit cards awarded as a part of California welfare program can be utilized to withdraw money at more than half of poker rooms and casinos in California. This has led to a disagreement on whether important steps should be introduced to stop this from taking place or not. All in all, 47 out of 90 poker rooms and 32 out of 58 tribal casinos in the state had ATM services that accepted these special debit cards from the players.  

The welfare program of California has been paid utilizing special debit-cards for several years, and by far have been the most preferred method of distributing advantage in most of the states for more than a decade. This program proffers so many advantages over giving benefits through check, both to recipients and states. It helps the United States to keep track of money distribution more easily and efficiently, and for the recipient, it benefits by doing away with some of disgrace that might derive from ‘cashing’ welfare check, or using food stamp or other help.

This disclosure has come at the time when the welfare system of California is perceived as a prospective casualty of 19 billion dollars shortfall in budget of the state. Arnold Schwarzenegger, the State governor has already marked this welfare program as a prospective cut down before these claims came into view, and this new piece of information can give the ‘measure’ more political backing.

As per Seth Unger, a spokesman for Assembly Republican Caucus, it is awful to believe that welfare benefit recipients can make use their special debit-cards in casino, especially with regards to possible abolition of social safety network in the state. The democrats opposed by stating that whilst the steps should be taken to make sure that these programs are being utilized as planned, too many rely upon them to eradicate them entirely.     

As per the spokesperson of Assembly, other States have eliminated this ‘loophole’ and the Assembly is committed to work with Schwarzenegger’s management to make that it takes place without any problem.

The operators and owners of California’s poker rooms and casinos may be put in an uncomfortable position by the reason of this ongoing debate, but it looks like most of them would not counter the important steps to stop special debit-card from being utilized in establishments.
