WPT Announces changes, Many New Faces for the Season IX
It is difficult to believe WPT is moving into its 9th season on airwaves, particularly taking into account the hum that is surrounding both tour and the show. Typically, it is something people see with new ventures, instead of something with old circuits in the poker world.
This new zest is the outcome to changes to both show and the tour that were introduced in Bellagio at a press conference. Bellagio is the host to Bellagio Cup of WPT this week. The hosts including Vince Van Patten and Mike Sexton were available, as were Adam Pliska (WPT president), Matt Savage (Executive Tournament director of tour), and Steve Heller (WPT CEO). The World Poker Tour and the season IX is on the go abroad, but ‘Bellagio Cup’ will mark 1st domestic-stop of season, and serve as a ‘debut’ for several new additions to team. Kimberly Lansing, hostess of Season Four Live Updates has made a comeback in ‘new role’ as anchor for TV series. She will be featured prominently within broadcast, bringing in action, communicating with participants, providing filming and commentary on the site from First Day of events. The Live interviews and updates will be included into show, but Van Patten and Sexton will be there to do ‘play by play’ calling of action.
Kimberly Lansing is not the only woman to join the World Poker Tour game, but many young ladies will makeup the ‘Royal Flush Girls’, the official money-presenters of the tour. Aside from presenting the prize amount, these girls will be there from the beginning of every tournament to hang-out with players, greet and meet the poker fans and participate in other components of EPT.
The high regarded tournament director Matt Savage is thrilled to be associating himself with tour. He said, “Feels like Season One of the WPT. This has been one of the most exciting things I have ever been a part of. For me, it is about the players and that is what I want to focus working with the players to make a better tour for everyone”.
Matt Savage is handling players related issues, regardless of being one of 2,560 participants still alive entering Day Three of the Main Event WSOP. The Bellagio Cup Main Event buy-in $10,000 is expected to get started on Sunday at 12:00 PM, but the participants can register up to Tuesday afternoon, before 1:30 PM.
